Pictures
Well here are some more pictures. I am a little slow getting them up...its been crazy around here. We had to stay longer at the hospital because the little man lost too much weight and had jaundice. So we left on Saturday and made the trek home. Kyler was a good little traveler!! He only squeaked once or twice, and who can complain about a couple squeaks!! He is going to have to get used to lots of traveling so how appropriate that we did it at the very beginning!! :)
We are home now, and having to keep him on lights 24/7. His levels keep going up, which is frustrating to us, but hopefully they will start coming down. It takes longer for preemie baby's to get over Jaundice, even though he was a big preemie, he is still considered a preemie and is obviously showing us that.
As for him generally...he is so pleasant! He loves to just stare up at you when he is finally off the lights....usually during feedings. He loves to be swaddled up real tight...which if you can imagine casues problems when you have to lay him naked on the lights. He hates getting his diaper changed and hated his bath today, but really can you blame the kid!
As for me and Brand...we are tired...but that's normal. Other than that we are loving our little boy, and are patiently (or the lack thereof) waiting for his jaundice levels to drop so we can cuddle our guy.
Enjoy the slide show.

Presenting Kyler Brandon Childs....
I would like to introduce the newest member of our little family....Kyler Brandon Childs. He was born yesterday, May 20, 2009 at 3:02 PM. He topped the scales at 7lb 2oz and measured in at 20 inches long. Pretty amazing for my little dude who was born a month early (hate to know what he would have weighed if he would have gone full term!!)
We had to get induced because of my high blood pressure....it sky rocketed over the weekend, and the doc didn't want me to go any longer for the safety of me and the bebe. So we set the time to come into the hospital May 20th at 5 AM. We come in got all the drugs to start labor, and 10 hours later the little guy came out ready for life. He had a little bit of a hard time breathing at first, but after i told him they would take him from me if he didnt stop grunting for air, he so politly obeyed! :) He has not had any problems since. He is perfect.
He has lots of dark hair and pretty skin. He is well natured and well just beautiful. We are loving him to death! More pictures and update to come.....but here are a few to wet your whistle!!

Wanted: Advice
Hey all you moms out there i am wanting any last minute advice you have before having my little munchkin. There is a chance we will be having him next week, because of my high blood pressure. So i am just wanting to make sure i have everything i need, and know what i should know.
So anyway, any last minute advice, things you wish you would have known, what you would pack for your bags (hint i live 2 hours away from my house when we are at the hospital, so include anything you sent the new daddy to get once the kiddo was born, cause we have to take it all with us).
Really I just want to hear anything you would like to say, so comment away!!

Who Would have Thunk.....
So this morning i got an email from my most favorite aunt that there is a rose bush named after my blog title. (ok really i think it had its name first, but i didn't know it existed, therefore my blog was named first and it was named after.) I had to post it, because anything called Child's Play must be good and needs to be shared!!
Here is a picture of it. It is acually a really pretty rose and i think i might have to purchase it and put it in my newly created flower bed...
And while we are on the topic of Childs Play i will post a picture of our blog titles name sake......

Update
So its been a while since i posted an update, and thought that i should probably do it. We have been super busy lately. Between getting things ready for the baby, having two amazing baby showers, Brandon trying to figure out our poor poor sprinkler and irrigation problem at this new house, and working it seems like time is flying!!
Little bebe is still growin like a weed...I love feeling him moving all around and he does it a lot. He is so spoiled and is not even born yet!! He is loved by many people and got so many nice things. I will post pictures soon of some of the things he got. As for him and me as one...yesterday i had my blood pressure taken and it was high, so today we got to take a trip up North to the docs office and have blood taken and a non-stess test on the baby....everything looked good, which we are ever so gratful for, but they are keeping a close eye on us now! We just have to take it easier...easier said than done... but nevertheless that is whats got to be done.
Thats all for now....I am going to try and gather up more pictures from my 2 showers, but for now here is the only two i have with some high school friends that i never get to see now that i have moved away. So fun to see them and catch up for a minute.
Me and my amazing momma!!

My Thoughts Today
So on my way home from work today i heard this song and balled my eyes out. The crying could be in part due to my unstable emotional state from being pregnant, but most of it was because this song is all too true for toooo many kids today.
Working with just pre-schooler children i know that even some of them take on so many more responsibilities than they should have to because their parents wont take care of them, or expect them to take care of themselves completely. Every child deserves a childhood. They deserve to be taken care of, loved, and allowed to play and have a care free life...that is childhood...that is what they need to develop.
Today i think we focus way to much on raising independent children. I do think that children need to be "independent" for a child, this is not the same kind of independent you may be thinking, really for a child independent should mean that they need to learn to tie their own shoes, put their coat on, pour their own milk, pick up their own toys, make their own bed....these are all self-help skills...skills children need in life. They do not need to figure out what to have for breakfast on their own, fix breakfast for siblings, clean the house (they can help mom, but shouldn't be left to do it on their own).
The scriptures teach us that children are submissive, humble, teachable...and as adults we need to become like them...not take advantage of them and their natural kind nature.
Sorry to be so bold, but this is a touchy subject with me lately. Please let your little ones be little. Let them get dirty, let them make a mess, let them play and learn. Help them learn responsibility by your side. Don't expect them to do something you are not willing to do with them side by side.
Anyway, Here is the song. The only place i could find it was YouTube, but it works. Thanks for listening (or reading) to me on my soap box.

Emotional Roller Coaster
The title of this post is what i have felt like the last week of this pregnancy! Why you ask? Well at my last appointment they did the glucose test, and i failed...by quit a bit, so they told me i had to come in for the extended one (our could otherwise be called the torture test :) ) Living so far from the hospital (I am still going to Murray to my old doctor, 2 hours from here), i had to wait till Spring break so i didn't have to take more time off work to travel up for a 3.5 hour test. So to say the least the past week i have read up on what gestational diabetes is all about, freaking myself out, thinking for sure that i had it. I shed my fair share of tears on my amazing hubby's shoulder and my fair share of sick stomach aches just thinking about all the things that could be made more difficult if i had gestational diabetes.Yesterday, with my bestest friend aka my momma, i went up to the hospital starving (OK not really i just really wanted a drink) because you have to fast from midnight, and took the test from 11-2. They drew my blood 4 times (but did an amazing job--not a mark on my arm!!) and i left still worried that the call today would bring nothing but bad news and justification for all my worries over the last week......BUT
I DON'T HAVE IT!! Holy Smokes what a relief! I just broke down into tears when i hung up the phone in relief that i don't have it, and relief from all my worries! So there it is, my story. I am ready to have a little one in my arms and take that new roller coaster of life and get off this dang emotional one that i am on. I have never in my life split so many tears than i have since i found out i was pregnant! But all for an amazing cause. Brandon and I are getting so excited to meet our little guy!!
