cuteness

I went to a fireside with a friend Sunday. It was just what i needed. Hilary Weeks is incredible.
Anyway, I come home and this is what I see. My monkeys eating popcorn together on the couch. It melted me. I love them. Thanks daddy for taking such good care of them.

Bagoon!

Well the last 2 weeks have been awesome and exhausting!
We went to Lagoon (or Bagoon as Kyler calls it) on Saturday with all of Brandon's family. It was so fun. I have seriously lost my guts since having kids. Just looking at the Rocket made my legs shake. Riding the rides all made me sick, I'm pathetic in my old age! Kyler and Brooklyn LOVED it. Yup, Brooklyn the Fearless is her new Indian name. She could ride a good majority of the kid rides and loved them. I took her and Kyler on the Sky Coaster thinking it was a simple ride, no biggy to take my kiddos solo while Brandon rode the rides i was too wimpy to. So on we got. Kyler was sooo tired at that point and just cuddled in and was wonderful. Brooklyn, nope she about gave me a heart attack and i mean that literally. She had my ol ticker pumping like you cannot imagine the entire ride. I got off and was shaking she had me so worked up. Blast that little Miss, she kept trying to pull herself up and over to see. I had to wrap my arms around her tight as i could, both arms to keep her in the stupid cart. Then, 3/4 of the way there Kyler told me he had to pee so bad he was just going to pee right here! So needless to say, me with shaking hands and legs, Brookie fighting to get back on and Kyler running up in front of me to find a bathroom we got off and I vowed to never take that Miss Muffet on a Sky Ride again.  We stayed till 10:45 Kyler was running around like a mad man and couldn't get enough of his favorites. We packed them up, Brooklyn was out in 10 seconds flat, and Kyler he fought it until Provo and then was out the rest of the ride home.
Then Tuesday (the 24th) Brandon wanted to Bounce Back just us and take them to Lagoon-A-Beach. So we packed them all back up and headed back. They loved the water. We got them out rode all the rides again, grabbed and Icee for Ky, Carmel Apple for mom and dad, and left at 6, so much better. We stopped, ate dinner, and they were both out cold. Kyler is still talking about Bagoon and that he wants to go back to the BIG SHIP (aka the Tidal Wave).
Now, the fun has stopped. I took them to the Dr. tonight cause Brooklyn was sooooo miserable, and figured he would see Kyler and want to help him out too. :) Sneaky me. They both have had snotty noes since we got back. But now, Kyler has an ear infection, his tube is not in anymore. Brooklyn has double ear infections. They both have an eye infection and a nasty raspy cough.
I forgot my camera the first trip, but you better believe i didnt the second time. Here are the keepers from this trip.

TMI

So if you dont like reading potty issues stop now. If you want to laugh with me for a minute, read on.

So those who are close to us know that Kyler has GI issues. He had Giardia when he was 9 months and that ruined him. No, i still dont know how he got it as a 9 month old. Yes, it makes me feel like the worst mother of the century. Yes, i feel filthy dirty, that what you get in gross Mexico, not a clean happy home in UTAH! Moving on off this major guilt i have from this issue.
We have been working with the GI clinic at Primarys and they gave us so advice to help him. Most of which I threw out the door (again, i know mother of the year) But i am so much smarter than them. :) (ok not really, but i do know whats best for my baby boy)
So, i have tried to limit his fluid intake, have cut the majority of anything dairy out (easily done cause i cant have any of it now) and it seems to help a little.
So just now, he told me he had to poop. I go in to help clean him up, and i see a healthy long specimen in the toilet. NO DIARRHEA! Oh my it made me happy. I told Kyler i really loved his poop. (yes i really said that, no, i never thought that would come out of my mouth, EVER!)
He looks at his poop and replies, "Ahh, thanks mom, i tried hard! And I love it too!!" So genuine, So happy. So gross and i had to share. :)
Continue on folks, we have healthy poop in our house!

Zoo Fun

As part of my Friday Fun plans this past Friday we invited my very best friend(who is more like my sister) and my sister-in-law to come along with us to the Zoo.
It was the perfect zoo day. Overcast, humid as heck (that was the unfun part) and pretty cool concerding the weather latley.
Brooklyn loved seeing all the animals and wanted so badly to touch them.
Kyler was in heaven. He says the Elephants and Giraffes were his favorite...just the same as the fall. He is quite consistant. :)

Aunt Brookie is the bestest

Brookie wasnt too sure, Kyler thought it was awesome

Checking out the Sea Lions

impossible to get all kids looking

I love my kids, i love having someone around to take pictures of us together

These two became friends, so cute

This warms my heart, Kyler and his cuz holding hands running around.

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is random, but i dont want to do another post. This guy, he is golden. He was mowing the lawn today with both kids on...he is my hero. That is hard stuff!! I had to finish after he went to scouts tonight i about died holding Kyler and driving. I had to kick him off. What a good daddy.

The Teen Months

So it summer. Im busy, i forget. I forgot Brooklyn's 13 month update. And now its time for the 14 month update. Ya, im loosing it already and i only have 2 kids. Poor kids down the road have no chance at a regular update. :)
In the past two months lots has happened so its odd i didn't update on her at all. She is WALKING! Completely and almost all the time. It happened while we were at my moms for the Petersen Reunion. She was attempting walking before, here a little, there a little, and had been for seriously 2 months. Just never wanted to go full into it. But, i guess she was inspired by family and took those two wobbly legs, put them under her body and away she went. She is unstoppable. She wants to run, gets excited and face plants every time. She keeps up with her brother for the most part and now they are playing like crazy.

Kyler and Brooklyn are getting be best buds. It makes my heart smile. Really is there anything more satisfying and happy than hearing your kids play and giggle together? No, there isn't. Bath time is a hoot. The bathroom is right off the kitchen so i can do dishes while they bathe. I love it. They get some "alone" time together and they are a crack up. Yesterday I only had one baby for daycare and she was asleep,  so the two kiddos had to play together. Usually Brooklyn has the other baby(just 2 months younger than her) and the 2 older girls who adore her to play with and Kyler has the younger bunch of kids which gives him at least 3 other friends to play with. So needless to say they dont have to play together. But yesterday, they did, and it made me almost cry. Really. Im kinda emotional lately. :) They were playing with a ball and taking turns laying on it and rolling around. No pictures taken, no movie, just cause i didn't want to interrupt their play, those electronics seem to end fun and special moments.

Brooklyn is not much of a talker, she screams. She will say "nana" for banana (they are her FAVORITE.)She gets so dang excited when you are pealing it. She says, "dada, nigh nigh" this means dad take me to bed. She loves her daddy. She is wrapped around his finger so tight there is no room for mom. Other than those she says "mama" and once in a while "ouch", she has said "diber" for diaper and "baba" for bottle but thats about it. The end period. No signing for please, thank you, food. nothing. Bummer.
She is not cuddler. She doesn't like it. Only when she had crazy high fevers last month did i get to hold her and snuggle her. She wont fall asleep in my arms. Her daddy's, but not mine.
Church is rough, she is a mover. She is a sleeper. You cant do either at church. Someday's i really wonder why we even go. I know its important, and that's why we go every week, but its neither edifying or uplifting to go.
She has the cheesiest smile. It makes me smile and laugh every time she shows me those little teethers.
Speaking of teeth, this poor little toddler has busted out 4 molars and 2 other bottom teeth all in the last month. Sad, pathetic, heartbreaking that babies have to have so much pain. I was wondering if she had an ear infection cause she kept screaming hitting her ears or right by them, the ddr said no, just so much pain it was radiating into her ears. Teething tablets did nothing, Motrin did nothing. She just had to tough through it. Broke my heart. (lets me honest about killed me with trying to keep her happy, it was impossible)

I now have to admit something that i never, and i mean never thought i would say. Brooklyn still has her bottle. . .and worse Brooklyn at times *gulp* takes her bottle to bed with her. There I admitted it. I am ashamed. I was #1 at judging other moms who had kids past one with a bottle. Yup, i am one of those woman. I was disappointed at any mom who would ever do something as stupid as sending their baby to bed with a bottle. Kyler was so easy. He never really cared about the bottle. He never wanted his bottle to go to bed. That made my judgements so much worse. That is until now. Brooklyn LOVES her bottle. Adores her bottle. Is not herself without that stupid worthless bottle. How the heck did that happen? I dont know. But, if she is unhappy the only way to make her stop that high pitched horrible cry is to give her the bottle. I have cut her way back. She only gets one before afternoon naps and bed, but i also cant help but to give her one in the car to keep her quiet. We try hard to not put her down with a bottle. Thats sooooo bad. But she gets to about once a week or so. I think she will have that bottle till kindergarten if its up to her. But seems how its really up to me it will be gone before 15 months. Thats my firm limit. No bottle after 15 months.
She loves water. Loves baths. BUT water, in big form either lake, or pool...thats awesome stuff. She has no fear at all. She cant get enough of it.

She still loves to play in the sandbox and beach sand.
She is great at making truck sounds and driving around with them.
She loves to make raspberries on your arm. She giggles like crazy.
She loves to help me wipe the table off.
She loves to pull out all the wipes.
She hates to have her butt changed. She gives us a run for our money every time.
She claps her hands all the time now, its so cute.
I love her, she likes me. Her daddy adores her, she loves him.

"Just Been a Long Day, Mom"

That title is what Kyler told me Sunday night at about 7PM. Why?
Sundays are rough. Only parents understand. Naps get messed up, eating schedules get messed up. Kids are exhausted and hyper and everything in between. Its all worth it, and we don't miss a Sunday, but they are rough.
This past Sunday, We decided to get out of the house and take a Can Am ride in Grandpa Childs sweet ride. Brandon has scout camp this week and he wanted to scope out which lake to go to. So we packed a dinner, packed some light jackets(i kinda might have forgotten Brandons, this will turn into major guilt as you read on) and we took off.
Got the end of the pavement, and got it all unhooked the kids out of their seats to get car seats hooked in and BLAH Brandon forgot the keys to the Can Am. What the? He is perfect. Really, he never forgets anything. Really so rarely i think i can count on one hand in the 5 years of marriage. Me, I forget everything, like that jacket i mentioned. . . .
Anyhoo, so we strapped it all back down. Drove down got the key, drove back up. Its now 5:30PM, should have thought it would be a long ride. But i was just happy to be out with just me my mini me, my husband and his mini me. Just us. Thats rare. So its special.
We rode.
The kids loved.
ky looks concerned, but really its just cause it was super windy

We rode more.
Higher.
Got cooler.
The coolness was wonderful.
We stopped at Blue Lake.
Its really Blue.
Its really Beautiful.

We threw in some rocks.

Had a potty break.
Got back in.
The kids giggled.
They held hands
Moms heart was happy.

Got cooler.
I put a sweater on.
Kids got their sweaters on.
Brandon like a good guy didnt complain that he was probably getting cold.
Stopped at Emerald Lake.
Threw in some more rocks.
Saw lots of deer.

Got back in.
Went down a steep hill that freaked me and the kids out cause their seat (which was holding the car seats in) started to lean forward. I then had to hold it back the rest of the night.
The kids held my hand and arm in the back for 20 minutes till it was soooo dead i could hardly move it. :)
Stopped at Deep Lake.
Threw "rescue pack" fishing pole in the water to try our hand at catching a fish.

Cooked dinner.
Ate super fast, cause at this point the sun was setting and we were WAY up the canyon still.
Got skunked in the 20 minutes we were there :)

Got back in.

Tried a couple trails that were blocked, adding time on.
Its cold now.
I have blankets on the kids.
Im chilly
Look over at Brandon and realize he has got to be frozen as we fly down the canyon road.
Finally we get to the truck at 10:40PM

So to say the least it was a long day. The kids were pooped. But, they were both happy. They both loved it. I loved the family time. I loved the smell of the mountains. I love my little family.

4th of July

I love the 4th. I have always loved all the celebrations that go with it.
This year for the first time since we have been married we stuck around for the 4th. Typically we go up camping for the weekend, but with it being on Wednesday and Brandon only getting one pathetic day off, we hung out around here.
On the 3rd Gunnison had their concert and fireworks show. They had Restless Heart, which we love, come to do the show. It was great. Good music, good weather, good company. We went with all of Brandon's family. The night was perfect fun. I loved watching the kids play. Especially Kyler. He is a one of a kind kind of kid. He was dancing like a fool, running all over the place, and throwing his glow sticks with the best of them.
The next morning we went to the "candy" parade. This is what we call parades now. A) they throw absurd amounts of candy at parades now. B) the main point of the parade is to throw candy, or at least that is how is seems. No super fancy floats like we had as kids, just trucks/tailors with kids or people on them. But, nevertheless it was fun and both kids enjoyed themselves.
Now this is when we usually take off, but we decided to go the park for a couple hours and let kyler spend some tickets. We only lasted an hour, only played on game of fishing pond, waited forever in a line to ride a train for 2 minutes, it was hot, both kids were exhausted from the late night before. So we bought snow cones for me and Brandon, popcorn for Kyler and Brooklyn and headed home. Layed them down for naps, and did yard work.
The we decided last minute ot drive up to my family's cabin in Fairview to check on it after the fires got so close. Everything looked great. We threw rocks in the lake, got muddy feet and hands. Then headed back home in time for Brandon to help take flags down.
Perfection.
Happy Fourth!

She enjoyed the concert as well. She clapped her hands and did some head banging as well

The fireworks freaked Brooklyn out. She was having serious panic. She wasn't happy with me, not with daddy. Finally grandpa offered to take her just cause she was in so much panic, and we went. Knocked me and Brandon's right off our feet. She has been sooooo clingy lately with her teething that she wont go to anyone but me or Brandon. Shocker. But she was happy with him. Content as can be. In fact when Papa had to go back to directing traffic she wasn't happy to go back to daddy.
Some pre-parade sugar breakfast

he was so excited

The only semi- successful picture of several we took at the cabin.
