The song by Time McGraw Live Like You Were Dieing has always been a favorite of mine. I think it has a good message. Life is so short, we have no idea when your time will be up here on earth, so we do need to live each day to its fullest, not taking any shortcuts, being nice to everyone, and doing all the things we want to now, and not putting them off for another day.
You might ask what spurred this....yesterday at a training for work we broke for lunch and all drove a half a block to the food joint....well one of the men in our training, apparently had a seizure when he pulled in the parking lot, was able to pull into a stall,, opened his door to his car, but fell out and went unconscious. The woman who car pooled with him, thank heavens called 911 as soon as he had the seizure and the ambulance station was right across the street so as soon as the volunteer EMT's got there(which was INCREDIBLY fast) they were working on him. He had no vital signs when he left. He has just been joking around with us all, giving the teacher a hard time, and telling us how excited he was to work for the census, and in 2 minutes from training to the lunch he was gone. They did revive him on the way, and they are hoping he will be just fine...he had a massive heart attack and respiratory failure at the same time.
This is why i am thinking about all this. Life is so fragile. Life is so short. We need to make sure that we are doing all that we can everyday, and not forget why we are here...its not to sit idly and let life pass us by, we need to be moving everyday up the mountain of our existence, learning, growing, laughing, loving.
Last night while laying in bed i also thought about how blessed I am in this life.
I have this man:
(don't mind his scruffiness...we were camping...but really i like the scruffiness...and i love his smile in this one, and it is rare to get him to smile for me...so its a favorite picture)
Who is an amazing husband and father. He is my eternal companion and i am so grateful, so grateful for him and what he does and who he is. I wish there were better words to express how i really feel about this man.
I have this little boy:
Who is my pride and joy every minute of his life. He brings so much excitement and joy into our home.
I have this mom:
Who is my lifeline. She is my example of everything i hope to accomplish in my life. She is my best friend, she means more to me than any of you will ever know. She is everything good in this world, she teaches, comforts, encourages, expects goodness, loves, and so so much more. I love this woman!
I have this best friend:
Who also is my lifeline. She is there whenever i need someone to cry to, complain to, ask questions to, share happy moments with that others might find insignificant. She is the kind of friend we all hope to have sometime in our lives, and i have been blessed to have her for somewhere around 6 or so years. She doesn't live close, she actually lives pretty far away, but its like she is right across the street...she is wonderful to me.
I have these brothers:
Who love me, teach me, and are all big brothers to me...even the one that is younger than me. I love them dearly
These in-laws:
Who are wonderful people. I feel so blessed to have them in my family and to be in their family. They have incredible attributes that have taught me lots in the last 3 years i have known them.
I have this house:
(this is a picture from last year..my yard is much nicer this year!)
That is a lot of work, but worth it in the end to see how beautiful we have been able to make it
I have this job:
Which is a blessing in and of it self...i worked one project and was just invited back to another that was by invitation only and was only for those who came highly recommended. WOW, i didn't even know my boss liked me...i was chosen with 2 others out of 17 people. What a blessing. I know my Father in Heaven was looking after us on this one. We really needed the money right now.
Long post, but i had to write down my thoughts and if you are still reading...you get a gold star!
I am grateful for all you good friends too...i learn from each of you as well, and feel your support all of the time. I come from a great family...one full of cousins that populate the majority of my blog list...i am grateful for them:
This life is worth something. We are are surly here on earth for a reason. I am blessed to know why, know what i am doing, and where i am going. I am blessed to be a member of this church:
cause without it all of the above mentioned people and things wouldn't matter as much.
Thanks for reading....here is your gold star....
