Our Little Miss Brookielyn is a mystery to us all. She is happy, excited, squeeler. She is a whinner, screamer, hitter, biter. She is a lover, kisser, and hugger. She keeps it real around this house. :)
I sometimes wonder what she will be like when she grows up. She loves brothers trucks. My mom gave her a doll for Christmas and she just looks at it like its a forgin object. She gets mad when i have babys over and hold them....i think this is more jealousy than a repulsion towards babies. Or at least that is what i tell myself.
So, this girl is nothing too girly. Hates her hair to be done even though i have had to do it since she was 3 weeks old. Curse of having lots of beautiful brown hair. BUT, folks there is hope. . . . .
the other day it was quite. Too quiet. I was worried. This usually means she has opened the toilet and is using it as a water table. OR she has opened the door to upstairs and is getting into things she shouldnt.
This is what i found. . . .
Yup thats my Little Lady playing with moms makeup. Ahhh it made me happy, even if she ruined the eye liner i just bought, broke the rest of my favorite eye shadow. Its a sacrifice i was willing to give.
And to add to my excitement...i found her knotting all my jewelry the other day when she had opened the locked door to upstairs and helped herself to to all. See, Marci there is hope for your girl. :)

What A Day!
Today was the day. The day i have not patiently waiting for. The day that my babies would go in happy come out sad, but in the end be better off. Here is the run down in numbers....
2 kids pulled from their warm beds at 7:00AM
2 mini hospital gowns
2 beds in one room
2 syringes full of 'cheap drugs' as the nurse called it. Nice.
2 goofy hilarious kids me and Brandon could stop laughing at after those said 'cheap drugs'
1 set of tubes for my princess girl, her first, hopefully her only....i have my doubts.
1 set of tubes for my buddy (making it his THIRD set)
2 adenoids taken out for the buddy
2 Tonsils taken out for the buddy
100 tears from my beauty
200 tears from my handsome
50 tears from mom who held onto it till her little man came into the room and was so sad, heart wrenching sad.
5 'not cheap' drugs from the drug store
9 Popsicle consumed (Kyler ate all but 2)
4 sippys of juice consumed (Ky 3, Brookie 1)
3 sippys of milk consumed (Ky 2, Brookie 1)
5 jello jigglers consumed
2 hour nap from the sleeping beauty
Brooklyns ears were FULL of 'rubber cement' like goop. Nice mental picture doc. He said she probably couldn't hear very well at all. Back when we saw his 2 weeks ago, he told me he was worried about her ears. They just looked so bad. Poor baby. Her ears both burst. She has had an ear infection every 2 weeks for the last 3 or 4 months. She should feel like a new woman now. Im looking forward to her learning to talk now. She has mainly been a screamer/pointer to this point. But, now i learn she could hear well, i feel like less of a failure as a mom and her speech.

0 hour nap, yes people ZERO naps from prince charming. I dont think he too charming right now. WHY!! They told me you would sleep!! (I blame Lortab)
3 sips of pureed chicken noodle soup, thats the total for both kids, BLAH
2 movies watched
11 episodes of a mixture of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Octonauts, Jake the Never land Pirate, Dora, Deigo, Barnyard Animals, and My Little Pony
25 (rough estimate) screams from that said princess, she has a set of lungs. And isnt happy. Not a good combo
12 hours of cuddles. kisses. snuggles. rocking. singing. perfect mom and kid time.
At the end of the day i am sure there is more to add to those numbers but you get the idea. Its been long. Hard. But worth it. I love these kids. Love them with all my whole entire being.

So drugged before surgery. So funny. She couldnt keep that finger out of her little nose.
Kyler told me his 'sides' hurt. I say "huh?" He says, " the sides in my mouth!" "Oh i understand. Thats cause they took your tonsils out there. Look (show him his tonsils they sent home in a jar) these are what they took out." "mom, tell him to put them back so my sides dont hurt." "oh sorry bud, thats not how is works, they will feel better soon i promise."
Ky has been a strong boy through it all. His moaning and sobs when he came back in the room were the hardest thing i have heard as a mom. It literally tore my heart in half. I lost it. He seems to react adversely to Lortab. They told me he would sleep all day, no. That kid is wired. He cant sit still. He is hyper. He cannot calm down to sleep. He is exhausted. He is all pale and has dark circles under his eyes. He woke up early, went to bed late (he fought us for 2 hours last night), and had big surgery. He should be tired. But no, stupid drugs.

Picture Roundup
I have a few pictures still on my camera from this summer. So lets get them on the blog so i can get them off my SD card!! :)
Way back in June we took a test run with Papas Boat before our Lake Powell trip with my family. We got to take our whole little fmaily on a short ride back to shore....
This is my little helper. I typically do dishes A) while she is still eating strapped into the chair, or B) do it while she is sleeping...this day niether happened. So helpful. Love her.
Then in August we went to Fun on the Farm with our friends the Hatch's. They are great. Kyler loves Jed and Madie. Him and Madie are born on the same day. They had a good time.
Last was our Labor Day Camping trip. Its the Childs' family reuion each year over Labor Day. I always love it. Just as all the colors are changing. The nights get crisp. The days are perfect. The kiddos loved the fishing trip and rides in the Can Am. We even brought Kylers power wheels for him to ride. And thanks to awesome older cousins he was completly entertained the entire trip!!
These last two have significance. Poor Uncle Travis is a blast. So nice, we love him to death. For whatever reason baby's don't feel the same way. Kyler screamed bloody murder when he would walk in the room. Brooklyn, not quite as badly, but still is always so unsure of him. BUT, this day, this time, she went to him when he put his arm our for her. MIRACLE. To make it all that more special for him she put her head on his shoulder too. Look at his face, he was thrilled.

creating his own brand
I dare say this was his favorite part
deciding what to harvest
Brooklyn was there too, just uninterested in what was going on
For some reason this chore made his nervous as can be....it took a lot of pushing to get him to put his hand in to get the fake egg by the fake chickens....:)
The closest we could get brookie to the fish
"OOF they are HEAVY mom!"
They were awake for some of the ride....or at least i think so. Papa and Gma Jo took good care of them in the Can Am
Kyler with the "volcano" in the distance. For whatever reason he is convinced that the "Nipple" as it is named is a real volcano. Watch out Gunnison Valley!!

Burton Reunion
Remember my post about being a Burton? LINK if not....
Well these Burtons are always fun. I always love getting together with them all. This year we just did a lunch at the park and games, and while i miss the 3 day camping trip, something is better than nothing. We missed my mom desperatly. I was told several time by my Uncle Dee that I looked so much like her and would give me a great big hug. What a compliment, my mom is a beautiful. I think im lacking, but i will take what i can get! ;)
So here is our day in pictures:
(and due to my laziness in blogging im not editing any of them....lazy lazy lazy)
Bless Bryce for helping Kyler bat so i could get a picture. Kyler had a BLAST playing his first introduction to baseball...yes he is 3, yes it really was his first time holding a bat, yes he did great.
Bless Aunt Kris, the funnest ever running him around the bases, so i could take pictures.....common theme. Might i add to my defense i helped him bat and run twice before i took the roll of photographer.
Notice that huge red spot on her head. That is what happens when you face plant it on concrete. She had an awesome bruise and goose egg for days after.
Uncle Dee was in charge and planned an egg toss activity. We did it in age groups and i might say Burtons have good skills when it comes to throwing eggs to one another.
Aunt Linda brought bubbles. Kyler was in LOVE with that blower thing that looks like a smoking pipe....only problem was sometimes he would suck in and this face would follow....
While listening to the program, in effort to keep a busy 3 year old busy, i let him take my camera, his most favorite special thing i let him do. This is the reunion in a 3 year olds eyes.....
For Mom and Gaylen....we love you guys and missed you!!

Perfection in a Dr and 15 month stats
I took this adorable girl to the her 15 month well child check yesterday. She is almost 16 months, but i wanted to get her into a pediatrician. The family dr we were going to quit family practice (looser, ok not really, but kinda, it makes me mad, he was so so good at what he did) And that left me begging for an amazing kind of dr again. We have been going to the PA down here, and i like him. But, he is a PA and i never feel like he can answer my questions well enough.
We have been wanting a pediatrician for a while. The one we used when I have had babies up north was so so, we took Kyler to her twice when he was so sick a while back, but she wasn't my fav. So my good friend down here told me about hers, Dr. Bean that is in SLC. We wanted one up there that will come to IMC hospital when you have babies, because we will be having more babies and why not think ahead? Anyway, my friend said i would love her. I didn't really doubt her cause she also has the same OB/GYN that i have and really if she has Dr Terry and loves him, then Dr Bean must be great too. And as a bonus i guess Dr Terry referred my friend to Dr Bean making it undeniable that she is amazing.
SOOO, making a short story a short story instead of a novel of my side thoughts. We made the appointment. I took Brooklyn up. I fell head over heals for this woman. She is everything a pediatrician should be. Perfect. I loved her.
She talked to me for about 45 minutes! Did I mention that was is great?!
And, she validated my fear that she is grown up for her age. Remember the whinny post from 2 or so days ago. Yup, Im not the only one that thinks that. Dr. Bean said she would put her at at least 18 months if not more. She is too grown up for my baby.
She did say that Brookies herniated belly button will most likely have to be surgically fixed later cause it is rare for a baby to get a herniated belly button after they are older (she got it 3 months ago). So, we will pray Brookie will prove her wrong (she said there is a possibility) so we dont have to do a surgery on my babe.
Brooklyns stats from her appointment:
Height: 33.25 that lands her in the 97%!! tall tall tall
Weight: 22.10 lbs that lands her in about the 72% skinny for her height! This is why finding clothes that fit is so hard. She is wearing 2T pants!!
Head: 18.3 inch landing her just under the 50%
Love my tall tall girl!
Too Big, Too Fast Part 2
Wow that title fits this post all to well, so this is part 2...seems how i have 2 kids that are growing too big too fast!
Kyler started Preschool yesterday. The decision to put him in preschool has been killing me. I do a little preschool here everyday with daycare. We do all the numbers, colors, calander, painting, etc. Kyler is smart. He knows all his colors and has for a long time. He knows all his shapes he can count to 15, for a 3 year old his language and social skills are off the charts. So, why pay money for someone to do what i do? Why send him away when I do daycare to keep him here with me? Why, why, why? I had lots of excuses as to why i shouldnt have to send him. BUT, i never felt at ease. This kid has had to share his mom, his house, his toys, his everything since he was 15 months. I feel bad for him. Nothing is really truly special and just his. (he has his toys upstairs, and he doesnt have to share any of them, but he wants to play with them during the day, therefore he has to share them if he brings them down.)
So, in the end my guilt for making him share everything, really us never really getting out of the dang house during the day, we rarley make it out of the house in the evnings cause i am busy with life after daycare. We decided that this would be Kylers special time. Kylers time to get out of the house. Kylers time to not have to share his toys and go somewhere with new toys and new oppertunities.
So, he went.
He was so so excited leading up to going.
I lucked out and had the day off for dr appoimentest, etc so i got to take him
He ran
He didnt turn back
He jumped right on the rocking horse and didnt even think twice of me leaving him there
I thought i was the kind of mom that wouldnt cry. But, as i kissed his forehead i could feel those warm tears welling up in my eyes. I booked it out of there, out to my car, where i cried. Yup, im one of those moms. I cried for a few minutes until i was out of town
That was hard
I couldnt pick him up cause i had to run Brookyln up North for a dr appoiment, this might have been why i cried. I wanted to, but couldnt. But thank heavens for good friends. My friend Bec came and saved the day and took him to her house to play with her kids. I dont know which he was more excited for, preschool or getting to stay and play at Jed and Madis, but either way he was happy.
To make the day that much more awesome and exhusting for a boy used to taking naps. He got to go do a swim lesson with the Hatch's. Heaven.
I got home at 6:15PM Kyler was sitting on the couch in a daze. He came out of it momentarily while he told me about his awesome day. Then the poor exahused kid ate all his dinner (a miricle) and then brused his teeth, watched one Deigo, and in bed to not budge again at 7:30PM (a BIG miricle)
Heres to my excitement to have this boy, this happy excited boy go to school. He loves it, it wears him out, it makes him happy, and really what more can a mom wish for. So here is my boy, my baby boy all grown up and going to preschool. It still hurts a little.
