Beauty

This is my first project i am posting...the rest of the projects that have taken over my brain because of sights like this, this, this and this might have to be posted another day...

So yesterday Brandon so lovingly, finally, made me a shelf to go into the entertainment center so we could put the stereo up out of little grabbing hands. Problem, the shelf he made was white, water damaged, and quite honestly ugly...but we really needed to get the shelf up so we could stop putting a determined toddler in time-out, so he put it in any way, uglyness and all. While watching TV last night it was bothering me...i can only be so white trash...and that was over the top! So I reached back into my craft filled head and remembered this project. I told Brandon I had to fix it, and I had an idea. He figured I would need 3 yards of fabric...even though I thought that seemed like a TON, (i had thought a yard and a half) I went with it, told him to expect a large withdrawal from the bank (really anything more than 5 dollars lately seems like a large withdrawal) :)
This morning I picked out the fabric and made this beauty:

becuase he had so TOTALLY over estimated ( i really only needed a yard and a half) I had plenty and decided to put a back on the TV section too ( i hated seeing all the cords and the wall behind the TV)

Quite proud of myself!

One Year Older....

Dear Kyler,
Oh how time has flown. I cannot believe that today you turn one year old. Your are my special little Mister. You bring unsurpassed joy into mine, and your fathers life. You have such a fun little personality that can range from cuddling in for a quick snuggle to being a little tease. You have a grin that can melt any heart that sees it.
I cannot imagine my life without you. You are my life. You are the reason I am here. I cannot wait to see you grow for another quick year…I am amazed everyday at what you have learned and how you have grown in the last 365 days. I loved you more than life the first time I held your tiny body, and each day I rock that growing body, my love grows too. You are a special little boy, and your mommy and daddy love you to death! Happy birthday little mister!
What is new with him lately….
·         He loves to tease…you as him for a kiss and he comes at ya, then at the last minute turns his cheek and gets a big ‘ol grin, saying something like, “ha ha ha, you missed!”
·         He has not only learned to crawl, but he has learned to move that crawl at a very high speed! I love to watch him cause he swings his hips when he crawls, so funny to watch
·         He is trying to learn to talk…which amazes me. Last night in the tub he wanted my drink, and he was trying to say juice aka drink and it sounds like “ju” (I think he is trying to say juice, but it is the same for milk or any cup). What a smarty! He was watching my mouth and listening so carefully when I would repeat “drink” it was like he was trying to figure out how to say it.
·         So officially we are counting these as his first words (I have mentioned them before, but its hard to remember which ones so I list them all: Dada, Mama, “Daa” (dog), “nigh, nigh” (Night, night), “jus” (Drink), "hat".  “na, na” (no, no)—hate that he has learned this…crap! :)
·         He loves the tractor! And I guess cause the tractor means dada time whenever he sees it he says “da”
·         He has gotten much more clingy since I started leaving him and going to work. While it is nice to know he misses me when I am gone, I don’t particularly find it nice to see him cry when I leave! Breaks a mamas heart!
·         He will finally put himself to sleep! We will rock him, and give him a bottle (that part soon to end, poor mister will be so sad!) once he is done just lay him down and he rolls onto his tummy and within 5 minutes that boy is out cold. So proud of you Ky! He will even put himself back to sleep when he wakes up at night…this is all a great thing that has just started to happen the last 2 weeks!
·         He absolutely loves berries! He would eat strawberries and black berries all day long if I would let him. The other day for breakfast he downed 4 strawberries and 5 blackberries in no time. He cannot get enough!
·         His other favorite foods include: Green beans, spaghetti-os, Mac and cheese, anything chicken, flavored marshmallows, yogurt, cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and applesauce.
·         He dislikes: ground beef, I cannot get him to eat it, not even mixed in stuff, all of a sudden he doesn’t like bananas (which is weird cause they used to be a favorite, I guess strawberries replaced them) but that’s about all, he isn’t a picky eater.
·         He bites the fork when you are trying to feed him and smiles when doing so..such a tease!
·         He finally is interested in feeding himself with a spoon, now just needs to master the skill…we are getting big messes these days.
·         Found out he LOVES balloons today!
·         He waves to everyone and everything!
·         He is mischievous…he knows what he isn’t allowed to do, and still tries to sneak over and do it
·         He was put in time-out for the first time in his whole long life this week…he kept doing what we told him not to, so we put him in time-out…he was devastated and cried for the whole 30 seconds he was sent to his room, but did he learn…nope he looked at us and speedily crawled right back to the stereo…back into time out, cries, back out, right over to the stereo…this happened 4 times and he never learned his lesson…he is quite head strong I would say!
·         He knows the word “go” and will start waving (when it is just us I guess he is saying bye bye to the house :)
·         He gives great kisses—when he wants…he like to tease and come in for one, and then turn his head…silly boy!

The Rest of the Story

So I have been super busy lately so i didn't get to do as many posts as I planned, but i have to finish and what a perfect day my anniversary.

Well, that night (Thursday) our first date, went very well. We went out to Village Inn for dinner and then to a movie (Pursuit of Happiness). After the movie we just sat in the theater talking until the workers ever so kindly hinted  that we needed to go now. :) So he took me home. I was smitten, and was as excited for our all day date Saturday as i was nervous! :)
After freaking out because I didn't know what to wear...the long drive and all day before the reception we were going to....so i didn't want to wear a dress...but didn't want to look sloppy and show up to a reception in jeans...so i decided i would bring a skirt, but wear khaki's just in case....yes i remember all this...it was a big stressor that morning!
He came and got me, we got in his truck and started our trek to Rexburg. We talked the entire time, it was so so easy to talk to him! We got there, visited some of my friends (remember i had just left a few months prior) and then decided we would go to a movie, but it didn't start for a couple hours, so we did what all college students do....went to Walmart of course!
When we got out of the truck and started towards the doors he reached over so naturally and took my hand, and i remember thinking "oh my he did that like we have been dating for months!" I got my millions of butterflies, and they remained i think from that moment on. Later, we decided not to change (dang good thing i wore khakis!) and went to the reception. Sitting in the truck he wrote out a check to give his friend, and handed me the card and told ME to write something in it. At that moment, no kidding, i knew i would most likely marry this man. I had just met him that week, our 2nd date, at HIS friends wedding and I, I had to write something in the card. Oh my, that was just the beginning! :)
Well we drove home, and got there safe and sound, but like i said he was so easy to talk to so we parked and talked and talked some more. Then my stupid cell phone went off....I am so anti answering phones on dates so i just pushed ignore and continued to talk. It proceeded to ring and ring and ring, so finally, MORTIFIED I answered the phone to hear my mother on the other side, " Marci are you OK?" "yes mom, I'm fine, do you need something?" "No, I am just calling to make sure you were OK. I was fine with this whole day date, until just 20 minutes ago when Luke called freaked out that you were out with a stranger all day, and he thought something bad happened to you.", "great, call him and tell him i am fine. Talk to you later." I hung up the phone so embarrassed. I looked at my missed calls...i had i think somewhere around 5 from Luke and 3 from my mom. Worriers! Gosh!
So that ended the date...oh but wait....this dang good lookin farm boy leaned over and kissed me! Oh yea! Heck yes! What a kiss! We might have kissed for a minute :) and then he walked me to the door, kissed me goodnight, this time like he had done it a million times before, he was so smooth, and said goodnight. I walked in more than just smitten. I flopped down on my bed because i was pretty sure i would pass out from the butterfly invasion in my insides and called my mom. Got mad at her for calling so many times, made sure she had called my worried big brother and told him I hadn't been chopped up and fed to the alligators on the way to Rexburg, and then told her of my date, and that he had KISSED ME!
Let jump a few days down the road...Tuesday when i saw him next in class. So excited! He held my hand during class from that day forward. We made dinner probably 5 out of 7 nights a week at his place and did home work, or watched movies...watched movies more than homework. It was the next weekend after Rexburg that we made dinner at his house, but went back to mine to watch a movie (Pirates of the Caribbean) This was a rare occasion...just ask my roommates, i was never home, especially with him. But that night we cuddled up and watched the movie...afterwards snuggling on the couch we started playing 20 questions...and while i know it lasted longer than 20 questions we covered everything from, "What do you want in a spouse?" to "How many kids do you want?" to "Whats your favorite color?". He might have kissed me at one point towards the very end of the night, and then said "I LOVE YOU" oh man, i was not expecting that. I panicked. I didn't know what to say, no one had said that to me and meant it before...besides my MOM! So i think i just smiled and kissed him cause i was lost as to what to say, i didn't think i could say it back, i had only known the dang kid for just over a week! So he left, i am sure with his pride sitting there behind him.

My mom called around this point, and told me she had to meet this boy. She had been in Mexico the whole week before (she left right after our Rexburg trek) so she felt like she had to make up for lost mooshy details and needed to meet the boy i had told he I was pretty dang sure i would marry someday. So she set up a date for me, Brandon, Her and Luke, Hilarie and their little Maddy to go to dinner. Brandon came and picked me up and we drove out to Luke's house. Luke let us in, and little Maddy Joy, my pride and joy all wrapped up in a darling, smart little niece at 3 years old, walked right up to Brandon and said, "HI Uncle Brandon!" I think i died inside. Brandon looked at me, my mom looked at me, Luke and Hil looked at me....wow what a little girl. She came up with that all on her own.....she called it as she saw it i guess. We had a great dinner and after Brandon took me home i was talking to my mom and she said she 100% approved and so did Luke.
The rest of it is a blur...really late nights with him, then coming home at 1AM to start my homework...mind you i was in my 2nd to last semester...so i had intense classes, intense homework, and intense feelings for this boy, and I had a job too.....needles-to-say I lived off very LITTLE sleep.
Because this is turning into a novel let just skip to the engagement....
March 5th...I knew it was coming...we had talked about it, i had helped pick out my ring (much much much to my dismay, i didn't want to, he made me) I had plans that weekend to go to a bridal fair with my mom and he said I couldn't go till i had a ring on my finger...i thought this silly we had the date picked out for May...2 months away! So anyway i thought it was coming that night, he came and got me, he drove down to the temple, parked and we watched the sun set (wasn't a great one, but hey i was getting engaged so anything was beautiful that night) the sun went all the way down, down, down, and no ring. He put the truck into drive and we went to dinner at the pizza parlor, and he got all stand offish. I was freaking out. He stopped talking to me, he was removed, and i honestly though oh crap, what is he going to do, break up with me! He didn't, but he didn't ask me either. I went home and balled my eyes out.
The next night he called and said he would be there to get me at 7, i asked why, still put out by his crappy mood the night before. He wouldn't say why, just that he would be there at 7. So 7 came and we started driving, driving driving and ended up in Black Canyon (i think that's what it was called, up Hyrum Canyon) he pulled out some fire wood, made a fire (on top of snow mind you) and we roasted hot dogs, ate some chips, and then realized the fire was dieing, and we were out of wood. So trying to be creative I ripped up a box he had and was feeding the sick little fire, and then Brandon was by my side, down on his knees with a little box open with a shiny ring glimmering in the fading fire. He asked me, i replied with, "yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes" We kissed, he put the ring on my finger, and the fire went out. I couldn't see my ring. Like i said i didn't want to pick out my ring, not one tiny bit, but he made me, so i did what any bull headed girl would do so she still gets her way i had given him 3 to choose from...and at this moment with tears running down my face, trying to examine what ring he had chosen to be mine for ever, hugging the man of my dreams, i tryed to turn towards the truck to get some light of the headlights, he caught on and let me out of the embrace so i could run over to the headlights. YEA! He had good taste! :) he picked my favorite out of the 3!
My life was perfect. and it has remained so even 3 years later...really it just keeps on getting better.

Wedding day story to come...i need to get in the shower before Ky wakes up! :)

Story Time

This morning i am going to tell a quicker version of how we met...mostly cause i have stuff to get done today, if i have time I will add to it tonight or tomorrow.

Once upon a time there was a young lady named Marci, she was attending USU and lovin life! She only had one year left until she was graduated, she had lots of friends, and had tons of fun. She was content with her life as it was, and was making serious plans for her single life as soon as graduation hit (things like going to Africa to work in orphanages, touring Europe, and even working in Russia with orphans there as well) But what always happens to life when you are content and have big plans.....intervention by a higher power. :) One morning I had the impression to go to BYU-Idaho, which i quickly discounted for many reasons, like i made fun of friends who went there, I was almost done at USU, i LOVED USU, and quite honestly didn't have good grades at the time to be admitted into BYU-I. So i let it go, but the thought didn't leave easy, so long LONG story short I got in nothing short of a miracle, and packed up and left for the next summer semester in Rexburg Idaho.
I left thinking maybe this is so i can meet my man up there...while i was content in being single and excited for my big plans, ultimately i did want to end the single life and settle down. :) So I went expecting to be swept of my feet.....1.5 years of BYU-I I was not in love, didn't have a ring on my finger, but happy to be there and so happy with my new slew of friends, and honestly absolutely loved it there, and became content with my new life...problem...
One morning I woke up and had the strongest impression i had to move back to USU. I was furious! But after lots of prayers i knew it was what i was supposed to do, so I talked to my advisor, and made it so my last semester i would take all the classes i needed to at least leave BYU-I with something in my hand...so at the end of that semester i left with my AA, and returned to USU.
You may be thinking what in the world does this have to do with her story....well everything. I registered for all my classes, knowing i only had 2 semesters left. I had one ANNOYING general ed class i had put off too long so I checked out my options...there were lots, but only one in the agriculture department...i thought to myself..."umm i need to get married, i need to place myself somewhere i can get the kind of guy i want...being a farm boy...so i signed up." When i got to class the first day there were only 2 seats open...one in the middle by a bunch of girls, or in the back by a good looking farm boy. I remembered my reason for taking that class and moseyed my way back to him. He didn't say much or really even acknowledge my sitting there...but half way through class somehow we got to talking and didn't stop until we had made it out of the building and to his next class. and oh baby was i whooped at first sight! :)
I went to my stats class so completely distracted that i didn't get anything out of what the teacher was saying...This was Tuesday.
Thursday I found him sitting in the same seat, in the back (side note not my style in classes, i was totally a front row sitter) I without hesitation (although i may have been dieing inside and my hands shaking uncontrollably) went and sat by him, we talked though class, out of class and down to his class again. After putting off saying bye, he asked me out for that Saturday...to drive to Rexburg to a friends wedding. I accepted with out hesitation. Then he said, "well we should go out once before i take you out all day...do you want to go out tonight?" Heck yes!
And there it is, that is how we met. Rest of the story coming another day...maybe tomorrow. :)

Quality Control

We are taking a quick break from my love posts to post a fun Ky post...i cant help myself!
Yesterday I had to make cookies and thought i would invite my favorite Quality Control Officer to help...and boy did he help!
He helped make sure I put everything in correctly, if i got any on the top of the beaters, he quickly brushed it into the mixer.
He helped make sure that every cooking utensil I have in my can that stays on the counter was good and filthy.
He helped to make sure that the cookie dough tasted good...when he stuck his hand it and it came out with stuff on it he couldn't help himself but to taste it....and boy oh boy was it good! He gave me a "num, numm NUMM". That is a 10 in quality control officer talk.
He also helped me in making sure that the kitchen was absolutely and utterly destroyed! What a great helper!
To top off his mess from spoons, to flour, to dough, he thought that grabbing the bad of Cheerios mom thought was sealed would be perfect to top of the mess...No that bag was not sealed and the contents of the bag was thrown across the entire kitchen...the officer let out squeals of satisfaction at his job well done!!
If any of you would like to hire this quality control officer the next time you make cookies, know that he comes highly recommended but costs you lots of clean up time! :)
"I am so loving this mom!"
"Best. Day. Ever!"
I love the dough on his face!
"oops did i just make a serious mess?"
"Mom, i think you need more chocolate chips!"
"say what, I'm fired...Naw you must be joking, see you next time!"
So much for the days when i could whip out cookies without making a mess in my kitchen....thing is i would tons rather have it this way...much more fun!

Thankful

Today I am greatful to have a husband who is a hard worker. I am greatful that he is willing and has the know-how to fix up the house/yard/pretty much anything. :) He is a man of many talents... Heavenly Father was genrous to me for blessing me with not only a handy man, but a dang good daddy and husband too!!
Tonight i am so grateful for a nice house, warm house, and a wonderful man by my side. After working today, visiting so many homes in POOR condition that people are living in, let alone with young kids, meeting women without husbands there, and so many different undesirable conditions, I came home exhausted, but so eternally grateful for a wonderful man by my side, a man who has helped not only make our house a nice place to land, but a beautiful comfortable home. A happy home, full of happiness, fun, and all the good things in life.
Tonight I am not going to share the story of our honeymoon adventure....but this picture is one of the very few we took, and it one of my favorites!

Love

So seems how  i think i should post somthing other than about Ky, although he is my favorite thing to post about...i have decided from now until our anniversary, May 11th, one week from today, I will post a favorite picture of our last 3 years each day, and tell a story about us, or somthing i love about my man, or about being married.

I love the man I am married to more than anything. They always say that love grows, and when people would say that when we first got married, or were engaged, i always thought that was insane to say cause i loved him so much.....well now 3 years later that love i thought was as strong as it could get, is much much stronger. Its a deep love, one that will only continue to deepen i am sure. I am so blessed to have him for my husband, i am so lucky to have him as a friend, and am so eternally grateful i have him for all eternities to love.

I love him for getting me hooked on the Jazz. Growing up I got to go occasianally with my cousins to Jazz games and got to sit REALLY close to the game...serisouly way close! I loved to go, but was never way into it....and growing up i never really remember us as a family being real into any sports....we watched the super bowel every year, but that was just a good excuse for mommas good cookin, and watching some funny commercials. :)
However, my husband does enjoy watching the Jazz...and really only the Jazz. Its a favorite time for him, and because he enjoys it, i have participated until honestly i love to watch them too, and i understand more aobut the game...and even know the players by name, and well know a lot more about them than i ever planned on.
Love him for making me a more well rounded person....now if i could only get him to really enjoy going to the theater, concerts, and such! :)
