Brooklyn Kay's Special Day

Petersen family
Childs/Simonsen family
It have no words to describe the happiness i get when i see my dreams of having a family coming true.
My amazing grandpa drove down to join in Brooklyns special day. What an incredible man. Truly blessed to have him as my Grandfather. What an example he is to me. This is 4 generations, Grandpa Burton, my mom, me and sweet Brooklyn.
I love this one! Brooklyn and Grandpa snoozing...loving the spread eagle arms, really could it be that comfy? She thought so! :)

The Dessert Table. I wanted to take pictures of the decorations this time and i only got as far as the dessert table...the other was too crowded and then i forgot.

Yesterday was such a wonderful day. Brandon did a wonderful job blessing our precious daughter. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful man to be married to. I love him more and more each day. He did say he thought they might drop her...apparently a lot of dress, a little girl, and lots of wiggles is not a good combination. :)
Afterwards we had a luncheon at our house and it turned out wonderful. The food was great, the weather cleared up so we could all hang outside and enjoy Brooklyns Special Day. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family. So many people showed up for Brooklyn, it humbles me a lot becuase almost every person there, save maybe 10 of the 30or so that came had at least a 2 hour drive to get here. There is a lot of love in our families, and we felt it yesterday. Thanks for all your support and love.

(pictures of her in her dress will come in another post)

Front My Front Porch Looking OUT

If you would have driven by my house today this is a sight you might have seen...a darling little boy playing in just a t-shirt and swim diaper and having the time of his life.
I needed to get some things done in the house, Kyler needing to get some play time in, me too busy to give it to him, so i found the next best thing to having mom to play with....water and a hose. :) I needed him out of my way, i dont have grass in the back yet (its planted and growing, just not play-on-able) so i left the front door open so i could keep a good eye on him (we live on a busy hwy), he was so good, no bolting for the hwy like he does often, just good old fashion fun in the water time. He even took a moment to play in the sandbox..notice the cute little sandy bum in the 3rd picture.
He figured out how to spray the hose, and quite literally had squeals of joy the whole time. I am in love with this little critter. He is trouble and all things boy, and i love all of it!

4th Celebrations

This year was completely different than how we usually spend the 4th. Normally we have my families Burton Campout. It is my favorite time. I have the most lovely family, seriously. I have been blessed to be super close to all 28 cousins on that side. This year, things changed, not many were going to be able to make it, and due to the super snowy conditions we had to move it to a different date. So............... instead we went to the 4th celebrations in Gunnison and the parade, then off to the Fairview Cabin with Brandon's family. Big changes to my 4th traditions, but tons of fun. Tons!

Friday night we went to Gunnison High School football field to watch motorcycles do tricks, then a concert by a Elvis impersonator(who did a good job, honestly i was a little unexcited for the concert, but he was pretty good.) then for the first time in about 9 years went to see the fireworks up close, like right underneath them. I don't remember doing that since the summer after high school. I forgot how big they are!! :) Then Saturday morning we went to the 4th Parade in Gunnison. So fun.  Then off to the cabin until Monday afternoon.

As for the details of all these adventures.... or better stated "the 4th Adventures According to Kyler and Brooklyn"

I loved dressing them up for the festivities...OK i loved dressing Brooklyn up and Kyler was a darling little side note. :) I plan on taking cute pictures of the two of them in their outfits, just cause i can, but haven't got to it yet so look forward to those in the next few days.
Kyler loved loved loved loved the motorcycles here is a short clip of the excitement. He screamed like crazy, clapped his hands, and pulled his daddy's hair like you cant believe when he was rocking back and forth out of pure joy. What a good daddy he has, Brandon just laughed along with me in this little boys happiness.

Brooklyn just chilled in Mommy's arms during the motorcycles, she took a good snooze while she was being toted around.
During the concert Kyler and his cousin Hueston about drove us all crazy! :) We layed on the lawn and they had a jolly good time wrestling Uncle Travis,

Playing with the jumbo glow sticks Uncle Travis got for them

and not pictured but all 7 of us there running after Kyler when he decided he need to make a break for anywhere but where we were. :) The bright green glow stick made it much easier to find him once it got dark. :)
Brooklyn loved just chilling on everyones laps. She loved sucking on her binki, her new favorite thing! She also got her first taste of taking a bottle. I brought a bottle for her hoping to not have to nurse her while we were there...she took it, but it was cold so she only drank about an ounce and wanted the warm stuff from mommy...the cold stuff in a weird bottle wasnt cutting it. I am hoping if it is warm she will drink it down so we can leave here soon to go to the temple again. I am missing my temple date nights with the hubby!

Fireworks:
Kyler was so hyper. He gets this way when he is tired. Like out of control hyper. So what watching of the fireworks he got in between his wiggling and running around he really enjoyed and thought it was awesome. He would say "wow" and "pretty". Maybe next year he will appreciate it more. :)
Brooklyn didn't appreciate the rude awakening, but after that she was content sucking on her binki again she soaked in the pretty lights...at least the ones daddy let her see...he was worried they were too bright for her. (what a cute concerned daddy my kiddos have)
Then off to home to get the kiddos in bed so they could get up early for. . .  .
The Parade
Kyler was not happy to get up that morning. We didn't get home till 11:30, so to say he was upset with us when we woke him up at 8 to get ready is an understatement. I wish i would have had a video camera on him, it was a priceless crusty look we got when we woke him up. It took him a little while to warm up to the idea of running about again, he was exhausted from the night before. Really 9AM parade is a little stupid if you ask me, but thats just me i guess. I was really worried about the ambulance and firetruck to come through. He freaks when they drive past our house, and by freak i really mean freak. He starts shaking and just sobbs. So i prepped him for 2 days that we were going to see "wee-o-wee-o's" at the parade and they are going to be loud. I was still worried but it was inevitable, and when they came through he didnt cry, got a little unsure and wanted to be held, but no shaking and no out of control crying and screaming. HOORAY! He thought [picking up all the candy was great fun. He gave me a good workout that morning running after him because he kept running too far out in the road and would have gotten hit by the parade vehicles. (do you catch a common theme in all this. . . kyler running away, and us chasing him...ya it seems we did more of that than anything else)
So happy to be awake ha ha
watchin the parade with his cousin

Brooklyn loved the parade and look dang cute if i dont say so myself. She chilled on Great Grandmas lap for a while, then moved to daddys lap and there she stayed for the parade. What a gem she is. So good to just be toted around and passed around.

Cabin
After the parade we packed up super fast and headed to the Fairveiw Cabin. It was beautiful up there. The snow just literally last week melted away. It was great relaxing and just letting Kyler go free to his hearts content. No cars, no other people, no fences, rocks, dirt, trucks, and long walk in Mommy's new double stroller....heaven as far as he is concerned. Monday morning i noticed he felt a little warm... took his temp.... 101...lovely. No wonder why he was just laying around all morning...we just thought he was exhausted from all the fun...that might have been part of it, but poor little man was sick.
Brooklyn loved being held almost 24/7, going for long rides in Mommy's stroller, and taking naps on Mommy's chest. (i loved it too)

Both kids strapped into Grandpas Can-am ready for a ride..Ky happy to go Cheetos in hand. . . then ornery as heck when we shut it off and he woke up.
(I have more pictures but for some reason blogger wont upload them, so these will have to be good enough.)

All in all it was a great weekend. and if you are still reading your a champ. This is my journal so sometimes i get a little long winded. Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Tow Mater

There are serious perks to small towns and old trucks!! For the Cars 2 opening night s guy from Gunnison made this adorable Mater...the boys LOVE LOVED it, what am i kidding i loved it and so has everyone driving through Gunnison!
We decided to take Ky to his first movie in the theaters to see Cars 2. He did a relatively good job. I was worried he would be super naughty, especially cause we went to the 9PM showing, but he did so good. He loved it and now all we hear about is "Mater".
Here he is in all his glory. We could not get Kyler to smile for the life of us, there was too many people, way to excitement i think for the little boy...but he loved it, even if it doesn't show in the pictures. He was scared to death to sit on him, that is why mom and dad had to hold him.
My nephew Hueston...cutest little smile!

I have to be honest the only excited face we got on camera is because of a horse trailer driving by full of horses

Ready for the movie to start...it was dark and the flash was really bright...hence the deer in the headlights look on both boys faces
Kyler was a hoot to watch during the movie. We got popcorn to help keep him settled, and he would not take his eyes off the screen, even to get the popcorn on the little tables they have (like the tables that chairs have in college). He was glued. I had almost as much fun watching him as i did watching the movie.

One Month

I'm a little slower at writing her monthly posts than i was with Ky...maybe it has to do with the fact that I have a rambunctious 2 year old to care for now, or maybe that i am working all day this time, or maybe that i am super duper more tired this time around compared to when i had Ky (the last, I'm sure, being caused by the first two).
So here is a little about my little lady at one month. . . . .
*First and foremost. . .This little beauty.......slept 6 hours straight last night. (yes, she is only 5 weeks and sleeping "through the night" bless her, bless her, bless her, bless her!! :)

*she is affectionately called: Little Miss, Brookilyn, Brookie, Sister, Chatter Chin (more on this later), Chubba Chubba, Brook a boo boo, Brookie Rue, and many many more, but those are the most common.
*She has the cutest curly hair, but it is impossible to get it to stay curly...it goes straight and sticks straight up within an hour or so.
*I cant go anywhere, ANYWHERE without her bring ohhhed and ahhhhed at. All that hair is quiet the attraction!
*The reason for Chatter Chin, nickname...because this girl has the most chattery chin i have ever seen. She isn't cold, i promise, she does it when she is happy, sad, crying, mad, or bored. :) It cracks us up.
*She still is the gruntin-ness little girly ever. She grunts all night long and drives me and Brandon up the wall.
*She flinches when her little brother comes near :) but also is so content when he comes to talk to her, its a bitter sweet relationship...
*The last two days she has started taking a binki, we are praying it continues!!
*She is chunking out seriously! We love our Chub a Lub
*She sleeps like her big brother did. . .  .meaning she sleeps all the time. She does get on a strange schedule a couple days a week where she will sleep all day one day, rarely even eating, and then the next day she will be awake all day and eating all day long. These are not my favorite days.
*She is an annoying eater. She does not latch on very well still, 5 weeks into her life. She sucks down lots of air and i am at a loss as to what to do about it. She also falls asleep when eating still, so she is a bugger to feed and get a good feeding in. But obviously we are doing something right, because she is chunking out so well.
*She is starting to try and smile. Once in a great while we can get one, but most of the time she just gives you a content smerk, which is equally as cute in my opinion.
*She is spoiled...when i am tired of hearing her grunt, i will let her sleep on my chest in bed...that means she gets to sleep on mommy on her tummy....two of her favorite things....i think i might regret this habit someday, but i get such good sleep not hearing her loud gunts! :)
*She loves her baths. LOVES THEM.
*We just love this little lady. I am loving dressing her up, daddy is so in love with his baby girl, and Kyler, while he is getting jealous of all the attention she gets, he also loves her to death and i can often find him on the ground laying on his belly my her during tummy time talking to her. Or while laying on her back on her play mat, he will lay with her shaking all the toys for her to see, and when "mommy isn't looking" offers his sippy cup to her. He also will give her his "B" or blankey when she is sad and mommy isn't hurrying fast enough to calm her down. I cant believe how fast these kids grow up.

Around This House

If you stopped by, you might see something like. . . .

These Chubby Checks and curly hair
Like this toddler trying to be a baby again...think he is jealous much! :) and no i dont typically let my son run around in a diaper...i was getting him dressed after his bath and he got away from me...this is where i found him.
This same adorable toddler who picks out his own outfits
This cheesey smile
I added this one for good measure....my sweet amazing Grandpa with my precious girl...priceless picture

Smiles All Around!!

This is short and sweet...but for journal keeping I an happy (really that's an understatement) to announce that Brooklyn just smiled at me!! A real smile, no gas involved! Its truly a exploding happy heart moment to see that first real big grin on a newborn. I will try and capture on in the future, for now take my word for it, its a beautiful smile on this beautiful girl!
