This year was completely different than how we usually spend the 4th. Normally we have my families Burton Campout. It is my favorite time. I have the most lovely family, seriously. I have been blessed to be super close to all 28 cousins on that side. This year, things changed, not many were going to be able to make it, and due to the super snowy conditions we had to move it to a different date. So............... instead we went to the 4th celebrations in Gunnison and the parade, then off to the Fairview Cabin with Brandon's family. Big changes to my 4th traditions, but tons of fun. Tons!

Friday night we went to Gunnison High School football field to watch motorcycles do tricks, then a concert by a Elvis impersonator(who did a good job, honestly i was a little unexcited for the concert, but he was pretty good.) then for the first time in about 9 years went to see the fireworks up close, like right underneath them. I don't remember doing that since the summer after high school. I forgot how big they are!! :) Then Saturday morning we went to the 4th Parade in Gunnison. So fun. Then off to the cabin until Monday afternoon.
As for the details of all these adventures.... or better stated "the 4th Adventures According to Kyler and Brooklyn"
I loved dressing them up for the festivities...OK i loved dressing Brooklyn up and Kyler was a darling little side note. :) I plan on taking cute pictures of the two of them in their outfits, just cause i can, but haven't got to it yet so look forward to those in the next few days.
Kyler loved loved loved loved the motorcycles here is a short clip of the excitement. He screamed like crazy, clapped his hands, and pulled his daddy's hair like you cant believe when he was rocking back and forth out of pure joy. What a good daddy he has, Brandon just laughed along with me in this little boys happiness.
Brooklyn just chilled in Mommy's arms during the motorcycles, she took a good snooze while she was being toted around.
During the concert Kyler and his cousin Hueston about drove us all crazy! :) We layed on the lawn and they had a jolly good time wrestling Uncle Travis,
Playing with the jumbo glow sticks Uncle Travis got for them
and not pictured but all 7 of us there running after Kyler when he decided he need to make a break for anywhere but where we were. :) The bright green glow stick made it much easier to find him once it got dark. :)
Brooklyn loved just chilling on everyones laps. She loved sucking on her binki, her new favorite thing! She also got her first taste of taking a bottle. I brought a bottle for her hoping to not have to nurse her while we were there...she took it, but it was cold so she only drank about an ounce and wanted the warm stuff from mommy...the cold stuff in a weird bottle wasnt cutting it. I am hoping if it is warm she will drink it down so we can leave here soon to go to the temple again. I am missing my temple date nights with the hubby!
Fireworks:
Kyler was so hyper. He gets this way when he is tired. Like out of control hyper. So what watching of the fireworks he got in between his wiggling and running around he really enjoyed and thought it was awesome. He would say "wow" and "pretty". Maybe next year he will appreciate it more. :)
Brooklyn didn't appreciate the rude awakening, but after that she was content sucking on her binki again she soaked in the pretty lights...at least the ones daddy let her see...he was worried they were too bright for her. (what a cute concerned daddy my kiddos have)
Then off to home to get the kiddos in bed so they could get up early for. . . .
The Parade
Kyler was not happy to get up that morning. We didn't get home till 11:30, so to say he was upset with us when we woke him up at 8 to get ready is an understatement. I wish i would have had a video camera on him, it was a priceless crusty look we got when we woke him up. It took him a little while to warm up to the idea of running about again, he was exhausted from the night before. Really 9AM parade is a little stupid if you ask me, but thats just me i guess. I was really worried about the ambulance and firetruck to come through. He freaks when they drive past our house, and by freak i really mean freak. He starts shaking and just sobbs. So i prepped him for 2 days that we were going to see "wee-o-wee-o's" at the parade and they are going to be loud. I was still worried but it was inevitable, and when they came through he didnt cry, got a little unsure and wanted to be held, but no shaking and no out of control crying and screaming. HOORAY! He thought [picking up all the candy was great fun. He gave me a good workout that morning running after him because he kept running too far out in the road and would have gotten hit by the parade vehicles. (do you catch a common theme in all this. . . kyler running away, and us chasing him...ya it seems we did more of that than anything else)

Brooklyn loved the parade and look dang cute if i dont say so myself. She chilled on Great Grandmas lap for a while, then moved to daddys lap and there she stayed for the parade. What a gem she is. So good to just be toted around and passed around.
Cabin
After the parade we packed up super fast and headed to the Fairveiw Cabin. It was beautiful up there. The snow just literally last week melted away. It was great relaxing and just letting Kyler go free to his hearts content. No cars, no other people, no fences, rocks, dirt, trucks, and long walk in Mommy's new double stroller....heaven as far as he is concerned. Monday morning i noticed he felt a little warm... took his temp.... 101...lovely. No wonder why he was just laying around all morning...we just thought he was exhausted from all the fun...that might have been part of it, but poor little man was sick.
Brooklyn loved being held almost 24/7, going for long rides in Mommy's stroller, and taking naps on Mommy's chest. (i loved it too)
Both kids strapped into Grandpas Can-am ready for a ride..Ky happy to go Cheetos in hand. . . then ornery as heck when we shut it off and he woke up.
(I have more pictures but for some reason blogger wont upload them, so these will have to be good enough.)
All in all it was a great weekend. and if you are still reading your a champ. This is my journal so sometimes i get a little long winded. Hope you all had a great weekend too!
