Bye Bye and Hello

Bye Bye adenoids, Hello new ear tubes

Today was Kylers surgery day to have his adenoids removed and new, better tubes put in. It hasn't even been a whole year since his last tubes were put in and one already fell out and he continues to get ear infections every time his nose gets a little runny. Which sadly now I do daycare happens a little more frequently.
I past this darn problem on to my little boy, so when the Dr suggested taking his adenoids out would help his ears drain, i was all go for it! They also put in "T" shaped tubes that are supposed to last lots longer than the regular round ones. We will see.
Making fishy faces with daddy (his gown had them all over it)

Happy boy in the morning before...he had everything a little boy dreams of...daddy, blankey, and Elmo

This morning we woke him up and ran him right over at 7:15...he is a big breakfast kinda guy so we were a little worried that he would freak about not getting any "bood" (food) this morning, but he never even asked. Relief. The nurse came in to give him some medication that would calm him down, she was so shocked that he took the medicine so happily. Yes, my strange son loves to get medicine from a syringe, he sucks it out fast than you can push the syringe in! :)  He does call it "juice" which might be a problem someday, but geez they need to not make it taste so darn good i guess! :)
Then the anesthesiologist came in, we put him on the rolling bed, and he got to go for a ride back...he thought it was purely awesome and didn't even flinch when mom and dad gave him bye bye kisses and he was taken through to the OR. Serious, no looking back, he was having a great time on that big rolling bed!
I wish i could say that he returned just as happy. I could hear him crying down the hall when they were bringing him back. Oh so sad! He was having a really hard time waking up from the anesthetic. It was not a good sight. At least not for a Mommy's heart strings. He thrashed and cried and cried and kicked and kicked. He was hating everything, the IV, the band aid on his thigh and foot, and his gown. We had the power to remove the poor little boys gown and he sported his diaper for a good 30-45 minutes until he calmed down enough for me to get his "jammers" back on.  He hated, and when i say hated I mean loathed the IV in his foot and after about 5 minutes of pure torture on our part and Kylers, the nurse finally decided he would be ok and started to take it out. He was still not completely with it, mostly just thrashing and kicking and slobbering all over, so me holding him and his leg, Brandon holding his feet, and the poor nurse trying to nicely take out the IV we got it out, but not without lots of blood getting on the bed and my nice shirt. Darn it, the poor kick ripped the IV out and it bled like a bugger, mostly cause he was kicking so much and we couldn't put pressure on it. With the IV out, "B" (blanket) and "melmo" (Elmo doll) in hand, cartoons on TV and a warm daddy to cuddle up to he started to calm down. Thank goodness.
He finally fell asleep, they could finally get his vital signs, and we finally got to leave at about 10:30AM. He was out and stayed out until 1:00. From 1 on he was a happy happy little man. He ate and ate and ate. Seriously that kid could have eaten me out of house and home...good thing i have lots of food on hand! :) Besides a little sore throat apparent when he coughs, he doesn't seem to really mind at all that he was put under this morning. He was tired by about 5:30, so we had a bath, dinner, prayer and jumped into bed at 6:30. He wanted me to sing a couple times...i am a sucker for his "gin" (again) "pweese" (please) so we might have sung 3 songs at least 3 times each, he got a night night kiss from mommy and 2 minutes later he was out. Its 11:00PM now and he has not moved. Now lets pray he sleeps till 8! :)
